Welsh cwpwrdd deuddarn (two-part cupboard), or court cupboard, in a dense and reddish native oak. The upper section has a bold cornice above a channel-moulded frieze with broken-dentil carvings, flanked by finely turned drop pendants, above two doors and a central fixed panel with moulded geometric designs. The base section has a pair of slim moulded-edged drawers above two large doors with wrought iron H-hinges and channel-moulded frames, around panels with unusual pierced ventilation patterns, the whole raised on stile feet. Superb colour and surface patination. Circa 1680.
(Replaced cornice returns, drawer mouldings and knobs; one rear leg built up).
