19th Cent Mahogany 8 Day Longcase Clock

Description

Here we have a very pretty little mahogany longcase clock. It is by William Pybus of Caistor, Lincolnshire. He is listed as working there from around 1808 to 1861.

The case is veneered in beautifully figured mahogany and is in good un-restored condition. It needs a little tidying, the main items are some veneer chips to the base and some strips of the back board to the base are missing. There is also some old woodworm in the seat board. None of these are major problems and the woodworm has been treated. When done you will have a very smart clock.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very decoratively painted arched dial. It has a picture of a shepherd to the arch and country cottages to the corners. It has a subsidiary seconds dial and date indicator (not working)

The movement is in good running order, keeping good time and is complete with pendulum, weights, bell and winding key.

The maximum dimensions are:

54cm (21.5“) wide

210cm (82.5“) high

25cm (10“) deep
