Early 19th Cent Oak 8 Day Longcase Clock

Description

Here we have a handsome oak longcase clock that dates from the early 19th cent. The dial is signed by the maker John Thurnbourne, Wexham, near Uxbridge, Middx.

The case is in good condition and a lovely golden colour. It stands on its original shaped plinth base. The trunk is nice and slim and has a long door with an arched top and boxwood line inlay. The arched hood has slim turned columns with brass capitals. Either side of the hood are fan inlaid patria.

The good quality 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has an attractively painted arched dial. To the arch is a well painted coaching scene on the Bath Road. To the corners are nice gilt spandrels.

The movement is in good running order, keeping good time and is complete with pendulum, weights, bell and winding key.

The maximum dimensions are:

53cm (21“) wide

212cm (83.5“) high

25cm (10“) deep
