An Antique Open Faced Pocket Watch and Albertina

An antique open faced pocket watch and albertina.

The watch has a cylinder movement, stem-winding, which is keeping good time to within around five minutes over 24 hours. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 45mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is testing as silver, although less pure than the .925 sterling silver so probably Continental .800. The case is nicely decorated… originally there would have been gold wash detail but most of this has worn off over the years, leaving just the odd trace.

The acrylic lens is in good condition.

The enamel dial has a charming appearance with Roman numerals, minute markers picked out in gold and then blue Arabic numbers to the perimeter. There is a little between 7 and 8 o’clock although not too detrimental. At least one of the hands is a later replacement... the hands are initially pin-set.

The watch comes on an albertina, 18.5cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. There are no hallmarks but it is probably .800 silver again.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
