Small 19th Century Rosewood Mantel Clock by Clockmaker to Queen Victoria (England and France, C. 1870)

Description

A small rosewood mantel clock of simple form, made for Charles Frodsham Clockmaker to Queen Victoria. The rectangular case has a simple convex molded base and is veneered in choice rosewood. The brass bezel has a thick bevel edge glass, and an enamel dial, signed by the clockmaker and retailer Charles Frodsham, maker to The Queen. The 8 day bell striking movement strikes the hours and halves on a bell and is stamped on the backplate "Charles Frodsham, Clockmaker to The Queen Paris".

Current Condition

The case is in excellent original condition and has a lovely patina, the movement has been serviced in our own workshops and is guaranteed for 12 months. The dial has two faint marks around the XII (see photos). If you would like a video clip of this clock striking please email us.
