An Antique Silver Omega Pocket Watch

An antique Omega pocket watch.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Omega name on the regulator and there is a serial number underneath the dial, 1,538,955 which dates it back to around 1900. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which is also signed with the Omega name, together with details of the movement and also details of medals won at trade exhibitions.

The watch measures 51mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are Swiss hallmarks inside the case back, together with the early Omega stamp. Originally the case would have had a rose gold wash around the bezel and the edge of the case back but this has rubbed off over the years, together with some of the engine turned detail to the case back.

The lens has a couple of light scratches, nothing too detrimental.

The signed white enamel dial has a couple of hairline cracks coming down from number 12. The ornate hands are a charming feature, popular in the Scandinavian countries at the start of the 20th Century… the minute hand is darker than the hour hand.
