Gents 1950s 9ct Gold Smiths Astral Wristwatch

1940 - 1960
Description

A 1950s 9 carat gold Smiths De Luxe wrist watch, Made in England.

The watch has a 15-jewel hand-winding movement which is working nicely.

The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Edinburgh 1956, together with a maker’s mark for the British Watch Case Company. The back of the watch has a 1957 presentation engraving from a bakery for long service. The front of the case is in good condition, there are some short scratches to the edge of the case back.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial has some light marking but overall it has a charming appearance with original hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and outer minute markers.

A new brown leather strap has been fitted.

The watch comes in a presentation box from a Liverpool jewellers. The box is a bit tatty but still good to have.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
