The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1880s.
The watch has a key winding movement which is working nicely.
Castle Road was renamed City Road in 1905 when Cardiff achieved city status. The movement is protected by an inner fitted cover. A winding key is included.

The watch measures 47mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop so slightly smaller than the standard 50mm. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case backs for London 1885 with a maker’s mark for the watch case maker John Hammon.

The watch glass has the odd minor mark but is very acceptable.
The white enamel dial has a chip beneath the subsidiary seconds dial and also some short faint hairline cracks.
The watch comes with a silver double albert, formed by passing one long chain, 33cm long, through a central loop. Also included is a 1901 silver vesta case.
