The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1930s.
The movement is working nicely.
The watch measures 29mm diameter excluding the winding crown and rather splendid articulated lugs. It would suit a man with a slimmer wrist, or it would work as a lady’s watch. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London 1937 together with the Movado image of a watch in a hand. The case back has a 1944 inscription… this is somewhat later than the date of manufacture but it was quite usual for ‘second hand’ watches to be given during the War years when supply was very limited. The winding crown is a later replacement.

The dial is signed Reid, the original retailers of the watch. There is some fairly light marking but still very easy to read the time.
A new black leather strap has been fitted.
