Gents 1937 9ct Gold Stauffer Peerless Wristwatch

A gents 1937 9 carat gold Stauffer Peerless wrist watch.

The watch has an Eterna hand-winding movement, made especially for Stauffer, which is working well. The movement is fully signed and is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs so it would suit a slimmer wrist, or it would work well as a lady’s watch. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for Glasgow (import mark), 1937 with a sponsor’s mark for George Nicolet of Stauffer (son of the famous Charles Nicolet). Unusually there is also also an image of a begging dog, ‘The mark of confidence’, inside the case back. The case is in good condition with just a 2mm scratch to the back and some minor surface marks.

The lens is in good condition.

The white enamel dial is in lovely condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch has a vintage brown leather strap.
