Early 19th Cent Bracket Clock by French, London

18th century
Description

A lovely early 19th Cent Bracket Clock by French or Royal Exchange, London. They are listed as working there from 1813.

The smart arch toped case is veneered in nicely figured mahogany and has brass beading to the dial door and the case sides. It has a gilt brass handle to the top of the case. At the sides are nice gilt brass gothic style sound frets.

The 8 day fusee movement strikes and repeates the hours on a bell. It has a nice clear painted dial with the all important strike/silent selector to the arch.

The case is in excellent condition and a beautiful colour, (there is a fine hairline crack to the arch). The movement is also in good condition and keeping good time.

The maximum dimensions are:

42cm (16.5") high, excluding handle

30cm (12") deep

19cm (7.5") deep

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
