English Ebonised Verge Bracket Clock

18th century
Description

A good mid/late 18th century verge ebonised BRACKET CLOCK by George Vadds (?) of London.

The case is ebonised with a cast brass carrying handle above the inverted bell top; four 'pineapple' finials; gilt brass fretwork 'spandrels' above the arched door and cast brass bracket feet. The 8-day movement, retains its original verge escapement, with a well-engraved backplate and strikes hours on a bell, with "Strike/Silent" in the arch; mock pendulum and date aperture above "VI". Full working order and guaranteed for at least two years.
