An Antique Silver Pocket Watch, Arthur Baume

Description

An antique silver pocket watch, Arthur Baume.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working well. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch itself measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside both of the case backs for London 1883 with a maker’s mark for Arthur Baume who was both a watch manufacturer and importer (including the UK agent for Longines). The movement in this particular watch has the look of an early Longines but despite consultations with Longines themselves, they could not tie it up with their records. The case has an indentation to the back, and some slight unevenness to the engine turned detail.

The watch glass has a 2mm mark just in from number 12 but otherwise looks good.

The enamel dial has three scratches in the bottom left quadrant but only one is visible to the naked eye. The hands are pin-set.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
