Antique Fusee Pocket Watch, Wm Williams Jones

Description

An antique fusee pocket watch by William Williams Jones of Liverpool.

There was a watchmaker of the same name who traded from Carnarvon so this could well be the same man who relocated to Liverpool.

The watch has a ¾ plate fusee movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed and it is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks for Chester 1878 with a maker’s mark for the Liverpool based case and watch maker Samuel Quillam. The case is in very nice condition with a good sized vacant cartouche to the back.

The watch glass is in very nice condition.

The signed enamel dial has three fairly faint hairlines around the subsidiary seconds dial. The glue around the edge of the sub seconds dial has darkened with age.
