A Gents Antique Silver Wrist Watch, Swansea

1900 - 1920
Description

A gents antique silver wrist watch, Dimier Freres & Cie.

The watch has a signed hand-winding movement which is working nicely. Dimier Freres & Cie was a well known importer and seller of watches with an office in London.

The watch measures 33mm diameter excluding the winding crown and fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London (import mark), 1918, together with the sponsor’s mark for Dimier Brothers. The case is in good condition for its age with just the odd mark. The screw-on bezel and case back are good signs of quality.

The back of the watch has a 1922 personal inscription to Mr Davies from the choir of Clyne Chapel. Clyne Chapel was built in 1907 and was originally in the Parish of Oystermouth, Swansea.

The lens is in good order.

The white enamel dial has a couple of hairline cracks radiating from the centre. The hands appear to be the originals… the infill has come out of the hour hand. Subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

PRICE INCLUDES WORLDWIDE POSTAGE

Dealers Notes

ALL PRICES INCLUDE UK POSTAGE (excluding Northern Ireland).

Please contact us regarding international shipping.

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are a VAT registered company and all purchases are covered by Consumer Regulations.

Credit / debit card purchases up to £300 can be made over the telephone on 01386 750238 or you can proceed via the 'Purchase Antique' button on each listing page. Alternatively, there is a Paypal payment link if you scroll down the page and we also accept bank transfers.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
