A Fine Engraved Repeating French Carriage Clock

Description

A pretty mid/late 19th century engraved French CARRIAGE CLOCK probably by Joseph Soldano and retailed by Parkinson & Frodsham.

The case is of Corniche design, prettily hand-engraved all over. The 8-day movement retains its original lever escapement striking hours and half-hours on a gong, repeating hours at will. The good enamel dial is perfect and the blued steel hands are original. Perfect working order.

**Joseph Soldano made lovely carriage clocks mainly in the third quarter of the 19th century. Uniquely, he numbered his platforms; this clock is numbered (2244) to both the platform and movement.
