Gents Ww1 Silver Waltham Trench Watch, Military History

1900 - 1920
Description

A gents WW1 silver Waltham trench watch with military history.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Waltham name and it has the serial number 20,510,608 which dates it back to 1916.

The watch itself measures 35mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the thick fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the screw-on case back for Birmingham 1917, with a case maker’s mark for the English based Aaron Dennison. The bezel is also a screw fitting.

The back of the watch has a personalised engraving for Sydney Meekcomes who served in the British Army Royal Engineers as Warrant Officer and Command Sergeant Officer.

The case is in good condition with just a little unevenness to the back.

The glass lens is in good condition.

The signed white enamel dial has a couple of arc shaped hairline cracks to the edge, one at 11 and one at 4.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
