An Antique J Calame Robert Pocket Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

An antique J Calame Robert pocket watch.

The watch has a good quality stem-winding movement which is working well. The movement is stamped JCR and it is protected by an inner hinged cover with images of various medals and brief details of the movement… there is an indentation to the inner cover.

The watch measures 52mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is 800 silver so probably Continental. It would originally have had a rose gold wash around the bezel and edge of the back but most of this has worn off over the years leaving a predominantly silver case. There are some areas of unevenness to the back.

The watch glass is in good order.

The signed dial looks good to the naked eye. If viewed through a magnifying glass, there is a very faint hairline crack at number 4. The ornate hands are a handsome feature.
