Masons Antiques has dated this piece to the Victorian era.
The flame mahogany case has inlaid boxwood and ebony stringing with rosewood crossbanding. It has a cathedral arched door, canted corners to the base, and stands on splayed bracket feet. The key lockable hood has a swan-neck pediment with brass patare and eagle ball finials.
The clock retains it's original French-polished finish and has a superb, rich patina.
The painted arched dial has subsiduary date and seconds dials with a moon phase dial to the top. All are in perfect working order. The dial has a raised convex dish centre; a feature rarely seen and all in beautifull condition.
The 8 day, bell striking movement has just been fully reconditioned in our own workshop by our own BHI registered staff.
A really majestic clock of the finest quality and one of the nicest clocks we have ever had the pleasure of offering for sale.
