Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the Regency era.
The front is beautifully inlaid with brass flowers within fielded panels and it is supported on brass ball feet. The 8-day movement strikes hours on a bell, repeating at will and retains its original precision brass pendulum with engraved bob. Good original painted convex dial; gilt hands; signed and numbered (1205) both to the dial and engraved on the backplate: "James McCabe, Royal Exchange, LONDON". A fine clock.
