Early 18th Cent Longcase Movement

Description

Here we have a superb early 18th Cent longcase movement by the London maker Samuel Guy. He is listed as working from 1700-1730.

It has a superb brass dial with all these lovely early 18th C features:

• Wheat ear engraved boarder

• Ringed winding holes

• Superb gilt spandrels

• Working date indicator

• Dimensions 12” x 16.5”

The good quality 8 day movement has five knopped and fined pillars and inside countwheel striking. It is complete and runs with pressure on the wheels but as you can see from the spiders could do with a service. It is complete with pulleys and seat board.
