Early 19th Cent Mahogany Scottish Long Case Grandfather Clock

19th century
Description

A lovely little mahogany clock by Alex Millar of Montrose, Scotland. He is listed as working there from 1798 to 1808. The dial is signed by the maker and unusually has what is probably the name of the first owner (Alex Wyllie) added to the seconds dial.

The case is excellent quality and is in beautifully figured mahogany.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very decorative gilt and silvered dial. It has a subsidiary seconds dial and an unusual painting of a highland scene to the arch.

The case is in very good condition and has retained its original finish. The movement has been serviced, is running well and keeping good time. The date hand looks to have never had any operating mechanism.

The maximum dimensions are:

208cm(82") high

48cm(19") wide

25cm(10") deep

Free local delivery and set up (60mls), national and international delivery arranged at cost.
