A gents 1920s silver trench watch.

The watch has an AS (Adolph Schild) hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The Schild family set up one of the first ébauche factories in Grenchen. Ébauches are bare watch movements to be finished by another factory. In 1896, Adolph set up A Schild & Cie with the aim of making good quality ébauches but with parts that were interchangeable. The company won awards for their designs and supplied various watch manufacturing companies including the renowned Harwood.

This particular watch measures 32.6mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for Glasgow (import mark), 1926 with a sponsor’s (or importer’s) mark for James Wier Ltd. The case is in nice condition with only light surface marks from use. The case back is inscribed From Dumbarton Church Choir, 11-4-29.

The watch has a white enamel dial which has a faint hairline crack between 9 & 11 o'clock although hardly noticeable, but overall it is in very nice condition.

The watch has its original blued steel hands.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

The watch will be sent in a new presentation box.
