Gents 9ct Gold Smiths De Luxe Watch, 1957

1940 - 1960
Description

A vintage 9 carat gold Smiths De Luxe wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement, with 15 jewels, which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around three minutes over 24 hours. The movement is stamped 'Made in England'.

The watch measures 31mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs... it would suit a man with a slimmer wrist. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1957 with a maker's mark for the England based watch case maker A L Dennison. The back of the watch has a presentation engraving, 'BR Western Region, E P Palfrey, 45 Years Service'. There is some gentle unevenness to the case back but overall the condition is good for a 1950s piece.

The lens is in good condition.

The dial is signed Smiths De Luxe, 15 Jewels, Made in England. There is some light surface marking but overall it has a very charming appearance.

A new brown leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
