A 1940s Silver Cushion Cased Longines Wrist Watch

Description

A gents Longines silver cushion cased wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is working nicely. The movement is signed with the Longines name and the serial number dates it back to 1944.

The watch measures 30mm wide excluding the winding crown and 30mm high excluding the lugs... this watch would suit a man with a slimmer wrist. The case is stamped Stg Sil (for Sterling Silver) inside the case back together with the name Handley, an Australian watch case maker. The movement would have been imported from Longines in Switzerland to be cased and subsequently retailed in Australia. The case is in good condition with just one small indentation to the back.

The lens is in good condition.

The white enamel dial is also signed with the Longines name. There are a couple of short hairline cracks but not too noticeable to the naked eye. The Breguet style hands are a handsome feature.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
