18th Cent Oak and Mahogany Moon Dial Longcase Clock

Description

A handsome 18th Cent longcase clock by Henry Higginbotham of Macclesfield, Cheshire. He is listed as working there around 1780.

The good quality case is basically oak with mahogany veneer to the hood, mahogany cross banding and mouldings. It has retained its finials and has a working trunk door lock and key.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell. The very decorative

gilt and silvered dial has a moon phase indicator to the arch.

The case is in excellent condition with the exception of a slight warp to the trunk door. The movement is also in good condition, keeping good time with all functions working.

The maximum dimensions are:

223cm(87.5") high excl. finial (+9cm(3.5")

28cm(11") deep
