Antique Large Silver Fusee Manchester Pocket Watch, Chain & Large Fob

An antique silver Improved Patent fusee pocket watch by S Lichtenstein of Manchester, silver albert and large silver fob.

The signed fusee movement is working well. It is protected by an inner fitted cover. An antique winding key is included.

The watch measures 57mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop so it is a little larger than the usual standard 50mm model. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for Chester 1891, with a maker’s mark of J.H, probably the Coventry based watch case maker Jesse Hallam who manufactured cases at this time. The case has the odd mark but overall is in good condition.

The watch glass is in good order.

The off-white signed enamel dial is in good condition. The hands are more robust than usual which ties in nicely with the larger scale watch and fob.

The watch comes with a heavy duty silver watch chain, or albert. The chain measures 33cm long including the T-bar and the clasp. The T-bar and the clasp are both hallmarked for 1900. Each of the graduated links also has the lion passant silver mark.

Also included is a very impressive large silver fob which measures 40mm wide and 50mm high. It is hallmarked on the reverse although the date letter is a little indistinct… the style indicates that it is around the same date as the watch and chain. The front of the fob has rose gold wash detail and there is no engraving.
