Description

Thomas Porthouse of LONDON: a handsome early 19th century mahogany "Four Glass" LIBRARY or MANTEL CLOCK, fully restored and in perfect working order.

The case is of well-figured timber with fluted decoration to the cornice; ogee moulded base and set upon compressed bun feet. The eight-day twin-fusee movement strikes the hours on a bell, with a good original pendulum and engraved silvered dial signed by the maker. 13ins (33cms) high maximum.

* Thomas Porthouse worked in Northampton Square 1840-1863.
