George III London Verge Bracket Clock

Description

An impressive, fine quality George III BRACKET CLOCK in full working order.

The ebonised case is mounted with an unusual gilt upper finial; full set of four small finials to each corner; cast side handles above pierced ormolu panels and ormolu mounts to the door and the base. It is supported on original cast brass ogee bracket feet.

The 8-day movement retains its original verge escapement, striking hours on a bell with pull-cord repeat.The good dial has fine cast spandrels; engraved & silvered chapter-rings; date aperture (above "VI") and "Strike/Silent" control in the arch. Good engraved backplate and in fine original condition.

Signed: John Taylor of LONDON.20ins high excluding upper finial; 11.75 ins wide (max).
