Superb 18th Cent Moon Dial Long Case Clock

Description

A wonderful quality 18th Cent mahogany longcase clock by James Monkhouse of Carlisle, he is listed as working there from 1750 to 1793.

The handsome slim case is very good quality and is in beautifully figured mahogany. The hood has a swan neck pediment with fine ormolu mounts.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very smart 13" painted "Wilson" dial. It has some most attractive decoration and displays the phases of the moon to the arch.

The case is in excellent original, unrestored condition.

The movement has been restored and all functions are working and it is keeping excellent time.

The maximum dimensions are:

230cm (90.5") high

53cm (21") wide

28cm (11") deep
