Mens Vintage Smiths Imperial Wristwatch

1940 - 1960
Description

Gents late 1950s / early 1960s Smiths Imperial wrist watch, made in England.

The watch has a hand-winding movement, calibre 0104, a good quality movement with 19 jewels. The 0104 was launched in the late 1950s, following on from the calibre 1215 which had 15 jewels. The 0104 was an improvement on the 1215 as it was designed for easy servicing and was a superior mechanism overall.

The watch measures 35mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the lugs. The case is gold plated and is in good condition for its age with just the odd minor bruise. The snap-on case back is stainless steel - it states that the watch is waterproof but, as with any vintage watch, this should not be relied upon.

The lens is in good condition.

The signed dial is in nice condition too with dauphine shaped hands and a centre seconds hand with a red pointer end.

A new leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
