Gents 1920s Silver Cushion Cased Wristwatch

A gents silver cushion cased wrist watch from the Roaring Twenties.

The watch has a good quality hand-winding movement, with 15 jewels, 3 adjustments. It is working nicely.

The watch measures 29mm wide excluding the winding crown and 29mm high excluding the lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the hinged case back for London 1928, with an importer’s mark for George Stockwell. From 1 June 1907, Stockwells acted as assay agents, facilitating the import into Britain of foreign gold and silver items, which had to be assayed and hallmarked in a UK assay office before being released for retail. The back of the watch has the elaborate initials of a former owner, together with the date December 1929.

The dial has a really good look with a textured dial in a sunburst type pattern, typical of the 1920s. A little of the infill has fallen out of the minute hand over the years but overall it is in lovely condition for such an early piece.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.
