Early 19th Cent Mahogany Moon Dial Longcase Clock

19th century
Description

A nice original mahogany longcase clock with a most attractive moon dial. The dial is signed by Henry Wilkes of Wotton under Edge, he is listed as working there around 1820.

The case is in nicely figured mahogany with spiral turned columns to the hood and trunk.

The 8 day movement strikes the hours on a bell and has a very attractive 13" convex painted dial with moon phase indicator to the arch.

The case is in good unrestored condition. There are two fine shrinkage cracks to the trunk door but these are very faint.

The movement and dial are in excellent condition having just been serviced. All functions are working and the clock s keeping good time.

The maximum dimensions are:

222cm (87.5") high

52cm (20.5") wide

25cm (10") deep

Free local delivery and set-up (70mls), national and international delivery arranged at cost.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
