1920s Elgin Wrist Watch

1900 - 1920
Description

A 1920s Elgin wrist watch.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is working nicely and the time keeping is good to within around five minutes over 24 hours which is fair considering its age. The movement is signed Elgin Nat’l Watch Co, USA and it has the serial number 26,998,980 which dates it back to 1924.

The watch measures 30mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. It is a midsize watch which would suit either a man with a slim wrist or it could be worn by a lady. The case is gold plated and it is in good condition with just a couple of minor scuffs to the bezel. The back has an indentation and a couple of small marks.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The white enamel dial is in good condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

A later black leather strap has been fitted.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
