19th Century Brass-inlaid Bracket Clock by Dent

Description

DENT, LONDON: a good quality early/mid 19th century mahogany BRACKET CLOCK by this famous firm of clockmakers.

The handsome case features a 'gadrooned' top surmounted by a gilded pineapple finial; brass inlay around the dial and on the plinth, and it is raised on original brass ball feet. The 8-day twin-fusee movement strikes hours and half-hours on a deep melodious gong, whilst both convex dial and the movement are signed: Dent, 24-34 Cockspur Street LONDON.

Full working order and guaranteed at least 2 years. *Edward Dent moved into premises in Cockspur Street in 1843, and the firm remained there until beyond the end of the century. 20ins (50.5cms) high.
