A 1920s Selex Pocket Watch and Chain

A 1920s Selex pocket watch and chain.

The watch has a stem-winding movement which is working nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is signed Selex, the same company used to supply pocket watches to the London and North Eastern Railway.

The watch measures 54mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop so slightly larger than a standard 50mm pocket watch. The front of the case is in good condition while there are a few little marks and indentations to the back. Both the bezel and the case back are screw fitting which is a nice sign of quality.

The plastic lens is in good condition.

The white enamel dial is in beautiful condition and has blue enamelled hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.

The watch comes with a chain which measures 29cm long including the T-bar and the clasp, and a token commemorating a visit to the Gnadenkapelle (The Shrine of Our Lady of Altötting, also known as the Chapel of Grace).

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
