An Antique 9 Carat Gold Trench Watch, 1912

1900 - 1920
Description

An antique 9 carat gold trench watch.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement with 15 jewels which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 32mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the articulated lugs, which are a particularly charming feature of this watch. The case is 9 carat gold and there are hallmarks inside the case back for London (import mark) 1912 with an importer’s mark for William Sparrow. The case is in very nice condition.

The dial is white enamel and it has the name of the original retailer, Lund & Blockley. There are some marks to the dial and a little paint loss but overall very acceptable for such an early piece.

The watch has a new brown leather strap with a 9 carat gold buckle hallmarked for 1913.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
