Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1800s.
There are good mouldings to the arched top and base, and it is raised on cast ogee feet.

The 8-day movement retains its original VERGE escapement, striking hours on a bell. Fine gilt hands; original painted convex dial and very fine cast brass bezel surrounding the convex glass front. Signed to both dial & movement.
Francis Atkins worked in St Clements (London) until 1809 and his son (also Francis) worked there circa 1811.
