Quiet Street Antiques of Bath has dated this piece to the 1850s.
The white marble case is lovely, with its ormolu birds above the drum movement; fine large ormolu scrolls either side with ring handles above; further ormolu mounts to the base and it is supported on four ormolu feet.

The 8-day movement strikes hours and half-hours on a bell, whilst the fine white convex enamel dial is perfect as are the original pierced and particularly fine engraved ormolu hands and cast brass sun-burst pendulum. Signed both to dial and movement: Leroy et Fils, Paris. Fully guaranteed and thoroughly recommended.
