The Dancers
~ French - Circa 1890 ~
~~ Excellent condition, fully overhauled ~~
A beautiful porcelain clock depicting a charming scene of country dancers. It is very well modelled and decorated, full of life and movement. The movement is mounted in a Rococo base which is delicately painted with a floral swag. To the underside of the figural group is a decorators mark 'M.V.'

The dial is cream enamel with a floral swag and blued steel hands.
The French movement is by Japy Freres. It is in excellent clean and running condition having been fully overhauled by our clockmaker. Pendulum is original. It runs for 8 days and strikes the hours and halves on a bell. Click the video clip below to hear the bell and watch the clock running!

Condition of the case is excellent, there's no damage to the porcelain, a small original firing fault to her foot and some wear to the over-glaze gilt decoration and some very slight marks to the rear of the case. Dial is also excellent with no damage.

Complete with pendulum, bell and a suitable key. Full setting up instructions supplied if required.

We prefer to buy our clocks in original 'dirty' condition. We then clean the cases using a technique we have developed over many years. We employ two qualified clockmakers who overhaul the movements. Movements are thoroughly tested until we are satisfied that they will run trouble free.
