An antique Waltham pocket watch, Model 1908.

The watch has a Grade 614 stem-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around one minute or so over 24 hours. The movement is signed AWW Co, Waltham, Mass and it has the serial number 18,621,406 which dates it back to 1912. This particular movement was in a short run quantity of just 700 and in fact only 6,700 of the movements were made in total which makes it quite an unusual piece. The movement is protected by an inner hinged dust cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is 10ct gold plated and was made by the English watch case maker Aaron Dennison. Movements were often imported from American to be cased and subsequently retailed within the UK. The case is in good condition for such an early piece with just light surface marks and a hint of an indentation to the back.

The lens is glass. There are three or four nibbles to the bevelled edge.

The signed enamel dial is in beautiful condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
