Antique Silver Ehrhardt Pocket Watch, 1897

Description

An antique silver English pocket watch, William Ehrhardt.

The watch has a key-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes or so over 24 hours. A winding key is included. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a previous owner’s name engraved upon it.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the case back for Birmingham 1897, with a maker’s mark for the Birmingham and Hatton Garden based watch maker William Ehrhardt. The front of the case is in good condition. The case back has some unevenness and some rubbing to the engine turned detail, all commensurate with its age.

The watch lens is glass and has some nibbles to the bevelled edge and a handful of small light marks.

The watch has an enamel dial and there are some nibbles around the edge.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
