Omega Pocket Watch, Hoefler & Co, Devonport

An antique silver Omega pocket watch originally retailed by Hoefler & Co of Devonport, Plymouth.

The watch has a hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is stamped with the early Omega logo and is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 47mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks for London (import mark), 1910 with an importer’s mark of SA together with the Omega stamp. SA stood for "Selling Agency", first registered by Dimier Brothers in 1907 purely for importing Omega watches. The case has some marking including an indentation to the bezel and unevenness to the case back.

The watch glass is in good condition.

The watch has an enamel dial which is signed Hoefler & Co, Devonport. It is in very nice condition although one of the hands appears to be a later replacement as it is a slightly different shade of gold.

In 1919, after serving as a Private in the Battalion of the Middlesex Regiment, Carl Hoefler changed his name by deed poll to Charles Albert Coleridge.
