Antique Silver Chronograph Pocket Watch

A Victorian silver centre seconds chronograph pocket watch.

The watch has a key wound fusee (chain driven) which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes or so over 24 hours. The movement is signed with the name J Rushton, Nelson (Lancashire). The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 56mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver with rose gold hinges and stop / start slider (which is a little stiff to move). There are hallmarks inside both of the back covers for Chester 1882 with a mark for the Coventry based watch case maker Charles Harris. The case is in good condition for its age with just one minor indentation to the back.

The later plastic lens is in good condition.

The dial is in good condition apart from some damage just above the number 6. The chronograph feature is operated by sliding the button on the side of the case up and down … the slide is very stiff but it has to be so that it does not stop and start by accident. The minute hand is a later gold coloured replacement.
