Gents 1930s 9 Carat Gold Rotary Super-sports Watch

1920 - 1940
Description

A gents 1930s 9 carat gold Rotary Super-Sports cushion cased wrist watch.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement, with 15 jewels, which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement has the Rotary wings logo. Unusually for a wrist watch, the movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 28mm wide excluding the winding crown and 28mm high excluding the lugs. The case is 9 carat rose gold and there are hallmarks inside both the hinged back cover and also the inner cover for Chester 1930. The back of the case has engraved initials and a date of September 23 (or 25) 1931. The case is in good condition.

The lens is in good order.

The signed dial has some marking and discolouration commensurate with its age but still easy to read the time. Feuille shaped hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and also outer minute markers.

A new black leather strap has been fitted.

PRICE INCLUDES WORLDWIDE POSTAGE

All of our watches are checked over before listing, and are also checked for accuracy which is usually within around +/- two to three minutes over 24 hours (unless otherwise stated), which is considered respectable for a vintage watch.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.
