The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1900s.
The movement is signed American Waltham USA, Traveler and it has the serial number 11,571,731 which dates it back to 1902. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.
The watch measures just under 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The case is the gold plated Star model by the English watch case maker Aaron Dennison. It is in good condition and has handsome engine turned detail to the back with a central vacant cartouche. The movements were imported from American to be cased and subsequently retailed in the UK.
The watch glass has minor marking but is very acceptable.
The enamel dial is in good condition with blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
