French Gilt Ormolu Mantel Clock (France, 1830)

Description

A good quality French mantel clock. It has a heavy gilt ormolu case depicting a classical scene of a maiden with a broken water pail. Below, in the cartouche, is a scene depicting the same maiden filling her water pail. It has a 8 day bell striking movement with a silk suspension.

Current Condition

The case has been cleaned and the gilding is in good original condition. The case has been re-plated recently, the movement has been stripped,cleaned and serviced in our own workshops and is guaranteed for 12 months.
