Victorian Silver Pocket Watch, 1892

Description

Victorian silver pocket watch.

The watch has a key-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. A winding key is included. The movement is protected with an inner fitted cover.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the stem and the loop. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for Chester 1892 with a maker’s mark of CH, believed to be Charles Horner. The front of the case is in good condition. The case back has uneveness and some rubbing to the engine turned detail.

The watch glass is in good condition with just minor marks.

The enamel dial is signed Ford Galloway & Co, Birmingham; Ford Galloway were both jewellers and watchmakers based at 10 Vyse Street in Birmingham. There are two short hairline cracks, one above and one below the sub seconds dial but otherwise the dial is in good order.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
