The Vintage Wrist Watch Company has dated this piece to the 1920s.
The movement is signed Thomas Russell & Son, Liverpool, and it is protected by an inner hinged cover which has a personal inscription from November 1922.

The watch measures 50mm diameter excluding the winding stem and the loop. The rolled gold full hunter case is the “Russell” model from the Illinois Watch Case Company. Thomas Russell would have assembled and subsequently retailed the watch after importing the movement from Switzerland and the case from USA. The case has light surface marks including some rubbing around the edge, and four little indentations to the back but overall it is in good condition for a 1920s piece.

The watch glass has a light scratch, 1.5cm, long but it is not too obvious to the naked eye.
The signed dial is in lovely condition and has blued steel hands, a subsidiary seconds dial and an outer minute track.
