Antique Gents Silver Watch with Orig. Strap, 1912

A gents 1912 silver trench watch.

The watch has a Swiss hand-winding movement which is ticking away nicely and the time keeping is good to within around two minutes over 24 hours. The movement is protected by an inner hinged cover.

The watch measures 33.5mm diameter excluding the winding crown and the fixed wire lugs. The case is silver and there are hallmarks inside the two case backs for London (import mark), 1912, with a case maker’s mark of AB for Arthur Baume, a Hatton Garden based watch importer. The case has some minor marks and some unevenness to the case back but overall the condition is very acceptable for such an early piece.

The watch glass has some very minor marks but they are barely visible to the naked eye.

The enamel dial has some faint hairline cracks, and a little damage underneath the bezel (beneath number 6). The hands appear to be the originals; quite a lot of the infill has fallen out over the years. The hands are initially set by way of the pin set mechanism.

The watch has its original dark brown leather strap with a silver buckle with the same hallmarks as the watch.
